About the Captain
Captain John Flanzer
John is a lifelong boater and sailor. He spent his youth in boats in New England, boating and sailing with a compass, charts and a sextant, before electronic navigation. He has run all types of vessels, from outboard runabouts to twin diesel motoryacths, from sailing dinghies to gaff rigged schooners. He has skippered boats in cruising grounds including the Florida Gulf Coast, US Eastern Seaboard including the ICW, the Canadian Maritimes, Bahamas, Virgin Islands, and Windward Leeward Islands of the Caribbean. He has worked as a charter boat captain, ferry boat captain, delivery captain, navigator, able bodied seaman, and marine systems technician. He also owned and ran a boatyard. He has taught college and now enjoys teaching his passion of boating.
